FISITA & VDI-FVT Announce Programme for 2008 World Automotive Congress 14-19 September 2008, Munich, Germany
27 March 2008
The Oktoberfest is not the only reason to visit the beautiful city of Munich this September. Automotive engineers from all over the world will have the opportunity to combine business with pleasure as the FISITA 2008 World Automotive Congress comes to the powerful automotive region of Bavaria.
FISITA and German engineering society, VDI-FVT, have just published the Preliminary Programme for the 32nd FISITA World Automotive Congress and it reads like a "Who´s Who" of global automotive technology.
The biennial FISITA congress has been steadily growing in size and importance over recent years. This year´s event in Munich has the strong support of key German OEMs and suppliers including Audi, BMW, Daimler, Evonik, SGS, TÜV SÜD, ZF and Connexis. The organisers are confident it will be the biggest yet.
Dr. Michael Paul, FISITA 2008 Congress Chairman and Executive Vice President of ZF Friedrichshafen AG, said "We received a record-breaking number of almost 1100 abstracts from which the best have been selected. This year´s FISITA congress will especially focus on solutions for sustainable mobility for people and goods in all areas of passenger cars, truck and bus transportation as part of total mobility concepts".
"We are excited to have so many top engineering leaders speaking in Munich and we look forward to gaining insights into their strategies for combining the technically feasible with the economically reasonable."
FISITA 2008 Highlights
There are more than 500 technical presentations (including posters) during the four main days of the programme.
Key players from the German and global industry are speaking at the congress, including top engineers like Klaus Draeger (BMW), Ulrich Hackenberg (Volkswagen Group), Jack Jacometti (Shell), Adrian K. Lund (IIHS), Didier Miraton (Michelin), Thomas Weber (Daimler) and Ulrich Widmann (Audi).
A special session organised with the World Road Association (PIARC) will address the subject of Vehicle Infrastructure Integration and Cooperative Vehicle-Highway Systems.
A sizeable commercial exhibition will display the latest designs, products, services and solutions on offer from 70 of the world´s most important automotive companies.
New features this year include the Islands of Excellence, a major new display funded by FISITA where universities will present international research projects based on their young scientists´ visionary look into the future. The five universities taking part won their places against some stiff competition, and will illustrate their projects with a mixture of hardware and audio visual displays.
The Gala Dinner and other social events at FISITA are some of the best and most enjoyable networking opportunities in the industry year.
