Truck Cabin Suspension with New Roll Stabilization

Mr. Friedhelm Langhorst, ZF Lemförder GmbH, Germany

ZF is a supplier of driveline and suspension technology. In addition to suspensions for truck chassis ZF also delivers cabin suspension systems. This system includes springs, damping and roll stabilization. These functions have to work in lateral, longitudinal and particularly vertical directions in order to provide good comfort to the truck driver. For the actual trucks the roll stabilization is integrated in the front cabin suspension. For future truck generations ZF developed an alternative design with new kind of kinematics which allows locating the roll stabilization to the rear of the cabin suspension. The whole development process has been carried out by ZF, starting with the first idea up to functional testing involving vehicle tests on proving ground. Advantage of the new system is more space for engine and cooling systems in the front area in view of Euro 6.
