Positive Output Buck-Boost Converter
ABSTRACT - POSITIVE OUTPUT BUCK BOOST CONVERTER
A buck-Boost converter/power supply is described with parameters suitable for the automotive environment. The maximum input voltage of 70 volts gives good margin for voltage spikes during an load dump, while the minimum input voltage of less than 3 volts will ride through a cold crank event. A unique gradual transition between buck and buck-boost insures no disturbance in the output voltage during mode transition. Any output voltage between 3 and 70 volts is possible, with output current only dependent of the power components chosen for a particular application. The supply is designed with a minimum part count and for simplicity of use.
