Islands of Excellence

Universities and research institutions have been invited to submit details of their automotive research projects, for the chance to win FREE exhibition space at the congress.

These free exhibition spaces, called 'Islands of Excellence', enable academic institutions to display their research projects to the many engineers and industry executives who pass through the exhibition area. VDI and FISITA will meet the cost of the exhibition space (up to 60mē) and basic equipment, as well as providing two exhibitor badges and one full congress ticket.

There will be five Islands of Excellence, focusing on:

  • Vehicle Safety
  • Mobility Concepts
  • Future Powertrains and Fuels
  • Simulation, Testing and Virtual Reality
  • Vehicle Concepts, Electronics, Body and Chassis Design

Entries for each category will be judged on their individual merits, and only one university will be awarded the opportunity to display on each island. The research projects must be new, innovative and unique, and must be supported by relevant physical 'hardware'. It is also possible to display audio-visual material on the islands.

Projects can be undertaken by individual universities, two or more institutions working together, or by a university in collaboration with a commercial company. Winning entries must be represented at the exhibition by an accomplished expert.
