Integrated DC/DC Converters with Supercaps
In the light of increasing hybridization of future vehicle generation, esp. such applications are going to be realized which contribute to fuel- resp. emission reduction, finallly. Thus, recuperation, start-stop, E-steering and EDS-stabilization therefore constitute applications for which an efficient energy mangement has to be provided in microhybrids. In this context AFL Europe GmbH has developed a - patent pending -system-solution enabling - within one single unit - the integration of a powerfull DC/DC converter with the energy storage medium supercap - hence, the OEM´s restrictive packaging as well as the high performance requirements both can be meet extensively.
The system can be provided in various performance levels - attached some key indicators for the 1 KW solution:
Design/Performance: o Output: 1 KW bidirectional o Capacity: 29,8 F / 12 Cells a 350 F o Additonal fused power output o Optional output for consumers during motor start o Protection class IP 6K7
Converter topology: o Buck/Boost converter 2-phases o Operating frequency 125 kHz o Current control and phase monitoring realized in HW
